Nashville A-Frame

The design for the A-frame style home originally came from the need for a roof that was designed to help heavy snow slide to the ground instead of lingering on top of the house and weighing it down. At the same time, the steep roof provides two other benefits. First, the cathedral ceilings create a partial floor plan at the top of the home, which can be used for lofts or storage space, and secondly, the roof extends down to the ground and doesn't need to be painted. These two perks minimize the amount of exterior maintenance required on the house.

More about A-Frames

Some of the more prominent features that an A-frame style home can accommodate are a triangular shaped or A-frame shaped home with a roof that extends to the ground on two sides. Deep set eaves usually find their way into the floor plan along with larger floor to ceiling windows on the font and rear gables. These types of homes are usually 1 ½ to 2 ½ stories and possess few vertical wall surfaces and limited living space with most floor plans. A-frame houses have limited living space and are usually built as vacation cottages for the mountains or beach.
